The Origins of the Fisher and Musselman Families

It appears to me at this point in my research that both the Fisher’s and Musselman’s arrived in the New World in the early to mid-1700’s from Germany. Their lives in Germany, again to me, are unknown at this time. It appears that they initially migrated from Pennsylvania south to Virginia and later westward to Missouri for my Fisher’s and to Ohio and then Missouri for my Musselman’s. Other branches of the family appear to have stayed on in Pennsylvania or Virginia or migrated elsewhere.

As I continue conducting my research and documenting my findings, I will expand on their history and update this blog with any corrections that are necessary.

As you may be aware there are already multiple genealogies on both families and some of the allied families; however, there are differences in some of those accounts. It is my intention to track down as much documented evidence that is available to clear up, when possible, the various inconsistencies in the existing genealogies. I recognize that there will be gaps that cannot be filled, but when that is so, I will so state and refrain from making leaps of faith when there is no basis for such leaps. I will strive to state fact as fact and supposition as supposition or simply state that I do not know or cannot determine a fact.

My initial entries in this family history may be somewhat meager but will eventually contain more and more factual information as I gather it.

I will populate the blog site over the next weeks, months and years as my research progresses. I am willing to share information with others and welcome contributed information from others who share my interest in the Fisher and Musselman families and in documenting their history.

I recommend you read my other blog site: http://familyhistorianchronicles.blogspot.com/ as I chronicle my quest for documenting my family’s history. It will also help you understand my philosophy in researching and documenting my family history.
